Batti Band?!?!?! ... for wot?!?

Recently.. a new campaign was launched on 15th dec 2007.... batti band.. vch insisted ppl.. to switch off their electricity frm 6pm-7pm .... logic being.. to reduce emissions ..

but... the logic is completely flawed... suppose if every1 switches off the lights and stuff... there wud b.. enormous amount of electricity loss... how.. as the concept of power plant engg. ... the base load plants wud anywayz b running... and i demand goes below base load.. the difference amount is wasted...

the solution for energy problem is to... use it wisely... v shld rather educate ppl to how effectively can 1 use electricity judiciously.... simple things like.. switching off TV's main power supply when TV is not ON ... can same significant amount of energy if practiced by 1 and all...

so.. organisations shld rather concentrate on.. education.. rather then.. BATTI BAND!!

  1. I agree. Nothing beats the stress on education that is necessary. Our student:teacher ratio stands at 37. But 50% of teachers are incapable of tutoring.

Coming to the Batti Bandh point, making people aware of the benefit is the first step. Taking concentrated measures comes next. This intiative was to instill the bond amongst people for taking part. Now we should step up to the next rung.

We did reap benefits from the process too. 78,000 cars worth of pollution was avoided that evening.

I'm glad to have been a part of it. Several people in my neighbourhood switched off their power for the stipulated period.

  2. I dont agree that Batti Bandh was a bad idea...even though it was a flop(thats another issue altogether).

Main Motive of Batti Bandh was to show how much of EXTRA harmful emissions are given out in air due to our irresponble use of electricity. Would u or me bother to find out about these emissions..if it wasnt for these Batti Band's.

Education against an evil is the best way to eradicate it.. but how many know about the evil?
