Chitkar.. a Guju play.. i watched yesterday(23/10/07) .. watched a play after a really long time in a theater ... and wot a play it was... amazing truely amazing ... a few stats abt the play (now i am talkin like a MBA ;) )
Chitkar ... most successful guju play ever.. 1st played abt 25 yrs ago!!! yeh .. 25!!! this 1 was its 761st attempt ... its among the top 10 plays in the world...
The story is based on true life incident which had happened in Gujarat some years back. The drama is pretty old, infact it ran packed houses for 15 years and they discontinued it because it was affecting the lives of the actors. Playing role of mentally challenged person is not that easy I guess. Sujata Mehta in the role of Ratna (Mentally challenged person) was just too impressive. Hats off!! Infact.. Sujata Mehta is the only actor who hasnt changed.. for all other characters, actors hav changed over the years...
Apart from this, the story... being 25yrs old... for a moment i didnt feel.. tht this is not possible in today's world .. everything seems so relevant even in todays senario ... I wud say a MUST SEE!!!

hope 2 catch this one...
gujarati plays have very strong foundation in terms of emotion, learning...but lost visibility as only few peoples goes...
